CDF projects’ progress impress Chitipa DC
Chitipa district commissioner Charles Mhone says projects under the Reformed K5 billion Constituency Development Fund (CDF) are progressing well in the district.
He made the remarks on Monday during an inspection tour of selected projects in Chitipa North and Chitipa Central constituencies where he urged contractors to maintain good standards and complete the projects within the stipulated timeframes.
“I am impressed with the way the contractors have started the work,” said Mhone.
He, however, expressed concern over delays in the completion of Ipenza Market shed.

“At Ipenza, we are completing the market shed and constructing a water reticulation system to supply water to the market and surrounding communities,” said Mhone.
He also said the contractor working on a classroom block at Mkumbilende Junior Primary School had started well but needed to accelerate the pace of work to meet the December 2026 completion deadline.
Meanwhile, contractors assured the council that they would complete the projects within the agreed periods.
Goka-Sem Joint Venture company supervisor Gabriel Mbukwa said the company was committed to completing its assigned works by the end of December 2026.
On his part, Joza Construction company supervisor Blessings Phiri said the remaining works on the Ipenza Market shed will take approximately 30 days to complete.
Goka-Sem Joint Venture is undertaking classroom block construction and completion works at Mkumbilende Junior Primary School while Joza Construction company is completing the Ipenza Market shed.
