Chirimba-based St Martin Parish Catholic Family Movement (CFM) last weekend donated assorted items to patients at Mlambe Hospital in Blantyre.

CFM treasurer George Mandala said the donation was aimed at alleviating the problems patients on admission face while accessing medical treatment.

Mandala said as a Christian organisation, CFM has a role to play in assisting vulnerable people in the country.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the patients, the hospital’s senior nursing midwife Patricia Mukhiwa commended CFM for the donation which she said was timely.

Mukhiwa said some patients face serious financial challenges, forcing them to default on bill settlement.

“With this donation, I hope their challenges have been eased,” she said.

Mukhiwa appealed to other companies and organisations to emulate CFM and help vulnerable people in the country.

The donation benefitted children, TB patients and pregnant women.
