Chakwera lauds Malawian investors

President Lazarus Chakwera has hailed Malawian investors for being resilient despite passing through difficult times, saying their resilience has helped the businesses to survive.

He said this on Saturday after visiting Rosalyn’s Beach Hotel, Cement Product Limited (CPL) and Njereza Plant in Mangochi District.

The visit to the business operators is one of the President’s activities in the district to appreciate their operations and the challenges they are facing.

Said Chakwera: “I am extremely happy with our investors because despite sailing through turbulent waters, such as the rising water levels of Lake Malawi, they have shown resilience.

“This is commendable because it is a sure way of helping the country to realize Malawi 2063 aspirations, the country’s development blueprint.”

The President singled-out CPL as one of the exemplary Malawian companies playing a critical role in contributing to the economy of the country.

“This company is very significant to the country because of its roles it is playing. The cement it is manufacturing is helping hotel owners to build good infrastructures. It is employing people, doing socal responsibilities, among others. This is good,” he said.

To this effect, Chakwera called on Malawian investors to invest significantly in the country so that Malawi attain it’s dream of becoming a wealth country.

“There is a great need for investment across all sectors of development. Malawians should be the first to invest to facilitate the country’s economic progress,” he advised.

Chakwera said his government is committed to working with the private sector to help the Malawi register substantial investments.

In his remarks, CPL managing director Akbar Gaffar thanked the President for paying them a courtesy call, saying this has invigorated their energy to upscale their investment efforts.

“We are so grateful with the visit by the President. This is a big motivation to us,” he said.

Chakwera’s visit to the business investors comes after he met vendors and chiefs from the Eastern Region at Chikoko Bay State Lodge, among others.
