Veteran musician Wyndham Chechamba has teamed up with Blantyre New Apostolic Church in an orchestra conceived to give lovers of classical music a befitting Mother’s Day next month.

Chechamba: It will be a big surprise

The music tutor-cum-performer will conduct the orchestra at College of Medicine in Blantyre on October 16.
According to the veteran, the ensemble—equipped with brass, trumpet, strings, percussions and woodwind—comes in honour of mothers and to inspire young people to embrace a diversity of instruments and sounds.
“We want to build a generation of artists to interest in music instruments. Orchestras are rare in the country. I last conducted a public orchestra in 2014. This will be a big surprise,” Chechamba said. n
