Listen to this article

Chichiri Prison has registered 1 416 inmates out of 1 972 prisoners during the July registration exercise conducted at the prison. Chichiri Prison elections presiding officer, Evance Chisi said this when National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) conducted voter registration certificate safety awareness yesterday. “During the July registration, we registered 1 416 inmates out of 1 972 because some of them were remandees. Our main problem here is the accessibility of the campaign messages or materials for the inmates to follow proper channels of voting come 2014 during the tripartite elections. We need radios and tapes for candidates’ manifestos,” said Chisi. —JAMES CHIMPWEYA, Staff Writer
