Group village head Nyambiro of Traditional Authority (T/A) Ngabu in Chikwawa has asked his subjects to send more children to pre-primary school classes.

He made the call on Saturday when Stephanos Foundation handed over a K5 million worth early childhood development structure.

Nyambiro said experience has shown that early learning provides basic educational knowledge to children before they start primary school.

He said: “I, therefore, appeal to you to send your children to pre-primary schools. Time is gone when early learning was for people in towns and cities only.

“Again, children learn to interact with others.”

Stephanos Foundation executive director Clifford Kuyokwa said they constructed the structure because they appreciate the importance of early learning.

“In whatever we do, we cannot exclude children because they are future leaders. So, for them to grow properly and become responsible leaders, they need to start learning from  a tender age,” he said.

Stephanos Foundation international executive director Johan van der Ham, who is based in The Netherlands, appealed to the community to take care of the structure.

He also expressed sympathy for the people’s loss of their property during the floods caused by Tropical Storm Ana in January this year.

The structure will also be used for adult literacy education.

The foundation also drilled a borehole near the place.
