Chinese Army pledges deeper military relations with MDF
People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China has pledged to deepen military relations with the Malawi Defence Force (MDF).
Defence attaché at the Chinese Embassy Colonel Liu Jiahong, made the pledge during the 96th Anniversary of the PLA red carpet gala which took place in Lilongwe on Friday evening.
He said the PLA is committed and ready to work with armed forces from all over the world, including MDF to maintain communications and exchanges, and to strengthen coordination and cooperation so as to forge a strong security shield for world peace, development and prosperity.
“The Chinese PLA is proud to have played a role in supporting the national defence of Malawi and is willing to do more. As the Chinese Defence Attaché, I am looking forward to furthering our defence partnership and push the bilateral military relations to a new high,” said Liu.
MDF chief of staff Major General George Jaffu commended PLA for its contribution towards global peace and its quest to deepen military cooperation with MDF.
“China has been instrumental in contributing to global peace and security through various support it provides to nations and defence forces besides its commitment to peaceful development. This is evidenced by being the second largest financial contributor to the UN peacekeeping missions,” he said.
