Creck spend K32m ontransfers
Ambitious newly-promoted TNM Super League side Creck Sporting Club have spent K32 million on the transfer market to beef up the squad ahead of the 2024 TNM Super League season.
This makes them the second highest spender on the transfer market with Lilongwe-based Silver Strikers topping the list at K40 million.
The spendthrift side has so far signed Akuzike Lifa, George Chaomba, Emas Nyirenda, Willard Tathedwa and Hardy Ng’andu from Silver Strikers.
Chaomba was signed for K3.6 million transfer fee and K3 million signing on fee, according to the club’s board chairperson Muhammad Seleman.
“Emma’s Nyirenda, Tathedwa Willard and Akuzike Lifa were all signed on loan from Silver Strikers and we just agreed monthly salary for every player,” he said.
They have also signed Nigerians Ademola Ismail Ajibola and Babangida Ishaya.
Midfielder Ajibola, who once played for Aztec Football Academy, has signed a two-year contract while striker Ishaya, who played for Fima FC, has penned a three-year deal.
Seleman said Ismail was signed as a free agent at K5.4 million.
“We have so far spent K4 million on him and we expect to spend more.”
Creck has also roped in former Extreme FC striker Wakisa Winfred on a three year contract.
They also have signed left back Aaron Chilipa Junior and defender Hadji Wali from Bangwe All Stars on three-year deals.
Said Seleman: “Wakisa Winfred was signed as a free agent on a three-year contract at K3 million. Chilipa was bought at K2 million and we signed him on a three-year contract amounting to K3 million.
“Ng’andu was bought at K2 million and he was signed on a three-year contract. His signing on fee is K3 million.
“Wali was bought at K1. 5 million and he signed a three-year contract at a signing on fee of K3 million.”
Meanwhile, Seleman said they are not yet done on the transfer market which closes next month.
“We have three more signings to be completed before the closure of the current transfer window.
“We cannot disclose the identities of these players to avoid spoiling the deals,” he said.
Football analyst Patrick Zgambo said Creck are keen to survive in the league.
He said: “Creck are intent on surviving the top flight through a Nottingham Forest model of heavy acquisition of ready-made mercenary talent.
“It’s both a genius and risky model in that in the past, such assembled teams have tended to have no soul to rally around and gel.
Remember [defunct] Escom United side of mercenaries did win the league twice but disappeared once their sponsors left with the money.”
