Silver Strikers coach Pieter de Jongh is being linked with a move to struggling Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger as technical director.

According to a Morocan consultancy firm Elby Sports, De Jongh is among those earmarked for the technical panel in a bid to turn around the club’s fortunes.

De Jongh: I always get offers

The firm’s spokesperson, who only identified himself as Ghassane, said in an interview on Thursday that the club was still in discussion with the Dutch tactician.

“The team is going through difficult times and is working on reinforcing its technical panel and Pieter de Jongh is one of those that has been spoken to,” he said.

Tanger are 14th in the 16-team Moroccan top-flight league with 10 points from 13 matches, having won only one out of their 13 matches. They have drawn seven and lost five.

De Jongh confirmed having held talks with the club, but insisted that there was nothing concrete,

“I can only say that ‘The Champ’ [I] always get offers from different clubs both within Africa and beyond.

“They [Tanger] approached me for the TD role, I also have other offers from Ethiopia and Botswana, but I have to respect my contract with Silver Strikers.

“I love my players, I love the club and I love the fans. So, for now I am staying at Silver Strikers FC. I want to win the league title next season.”

Silver finished as runners-up to champions FCB Nyasa Bullets and they are in the final of the Castel Challenge Cup.

De Jhong was hired  at the start of the seasonon a two-year contract and his targets included winning the league and at least two cups.
