Ecobank Malawi has given K10 million as sponsorship to the Presidential Charity Golf Tournament which will held on October 7 at Lilongwe Golf Club.

The tournament, which is an initiative of President Lazarus Chakwera, seeks to raise money for underprivileged university students and survivors of Cyclone Freddy, which hit the country’s Southern Region in mid-March this year.

Ecobank Malawi executive director Weluzani Chingota said the pan-African bank is proud to support the noble cause, which aligns with its vision of contributing to the economic development and financial integration of Africa.

“We are delighted to be part of this noble charitable initiative, which will make a positive difference in the lives of many Malawians.

“As a pan-African bank, we believe in giving back to the society and investing in the future of our country and continent at large,” he said.

Presidential Charity Initiative Committee executive member Ulemu Luhanga, who is also the Ladies Golf Union president, thanked Ecobank Malawi for sponsorship and urged other corporate entities and individuals to emulate the bank’s gesture.

“We are grateful to Ecobank Malawi for their sponsorship, which demonstrates their corporate citizenship and social responsibility,” she said.

Ecobank Malawi Limited is part of the Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the parent company of the Ecobank Group, which employs over 14 000 people and serves about 29 million customers in 33 African countries.
