Escom Sisters beat their archrivals Bingu Tigresses 44-30 in a GOtv Netball Champions League encounter played on Sunday at Don Bosco in the capital, Lilongwe.

The second round win catapulted Escom to the pinnacle of the K8 million (about $20 000) tournament.

Before the clash, the two giants were tied at nine points.

It was Escom goal attackers Jessica Mazengera and Sarudzai Gondwe who were on rampage to earn their team a lead in all the quarters.

The Sisters won three matches and lost one to cap a successful weekend.

On Saturday, Escom Sisters beat Civo (37-35) and MTL Queens (48-30).

So far, Escom have won six of eight matches they have played.

Their coach Griffin Seanda was cautious in his post-match brief.

“We are not there yet, as you can see that the games are tough,” he said.

Tigresses, who have 11 points beat Civo 43-31, and Blue Eagles 43-38, with Linda Magombo as the playmaker.

On Sunday, Tigresses beat MTL Queens before succumbing to Escom Sisters’ superiority.

MultiChoice Malawi described the event as successful and entertaining.

“I think we are realising the objective of making the tournament,” said MultiChoice Malawi sales and marketing executive for the Centre and North, MacRhonnex Kaulembe.
