If I were

Minister of Education, I would realise that the issue of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations leakage is getting out of hand hence the need to treat it with the urgency it deserves.

I would appreciate, if I were you ma’am, that when teachers are implicated in an examination leakage, it is cause for concern and alarming confirmation that all is not well in the system.

How I wish I were madam Kazembe, because I would appreciate that the development has the potential to affect the credibility of the Ministry of Education, of which I am the head.

Other than just scratch on the surface, I would instruct officials in my ministry to investigate why teachers are being tempted to sell examination papers, amid reports that teachers who are invigilating had not been paid their dues at the time of starting the task.

I would also appreciate that it is the responsibility of my ministry to protect examinations from leakages or, indeed, launch investigations if there are reports of the same.

That is if only I were madam Kazembe. Unfortunately, I am not her!

  1. The problem with most politicians is that they have no sense of responsibility. To them if the month ends and a pay check is given to them, it OK. Furthermore, I wish the appointing authority had stronger will as well so that those embodied in controversies or inefficiency should be dealt with in terms of disciplining by forcing them out of their positions!!
