Gadaga: I do not think I spoke wrongly

Relegation-threatened Evirom FC have sacked their coach Mario Gadaga allegedly because of an interview he gave to the media which, according to the team’s management, exposed his lack of commitment.

Evirom FC director Emmanuel Viola on Tuesday confirmed that Gadaga was given the book after a recent radio interview that gave an impression that he had already given up on relegated.

“I asked to listen to the clip after being tipped by some people and he said something like he was ready to join other teams. The other interview he gave was that he would address a press conference at the end of the season to say why the team kind of struggled. Now, such kind of interviews are creating confusion,” said Viola.

However, the Evirom director said Gadaga called him on Tuesday and apologised for everything.

“He even asked someone to apologise on his behalf and asked if we could discuss, so the way forward will be known after that meeting, but for now, he has been instructed to stop working and his deputy Paul Kachingwe is in charge,” said Viola.

Gadaga said he will only comment after getting official communication from the club.

“I do not think I spoke wrongly, but perhaps I might have been misunderstood,” he said.

Evirom are currently second from the bottom with 17 points from 24 games. They can only get a maximum of 29 points this season.
