The Flames’ tentative 2013 Cosafa Cup squad has been submitted to the regional soccer body, but the final 20 will only be released next month.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda revealed this on Monday when asked to comment on Cosafa chief operations officer Sue Destombes’ remarks that she expects all 13 teams to submit their squads by Wednesday.

“We sent them a tentative group of players as we are yet to start camping. Our plan is to have the team in camp on July 1 and leave on the 10th. We already submitted our budget to government and once the team has been called for camp, we will release the names,” said Nyirenda.

In an earlier interview, Destombes said planning for the regional soccer showpiece, back after a three-year absence, was on track “and we expect teams to submit their squads from Tuesday up to Wednesday.”

The actual tournament runs from July 6-20, but seeded Malawi will join from the quarter-final against Zimbabwe on July 13. The Flames are two-time Cosafa cup finalists.
