“It is important that we walk on this journey together as filmmakers. There is a lot of division that only hurts the industry considering there are few of us. But I want us all to unite and move forward together,” she said.

There have been reports of divisions among filmmakers, with each doing their activities without the organisation’s involvement.

Kingston said the offices, located in Area 3, will serve a coordinating entity  for filmmakers across the country.

She said: “We only dreamt about this moment which  marks a milestone in the history of Fama. We are grateful to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri for the financial support.

“Previously, the association used WhatsApp group forums and one on one meetings to discuss issues. But now we will be using our offices.”

Prophet Bushiri contributed K40 million to the project.

He commended Fama leadership for their commitment and transparency in securing the offices.

“This is a milestone and I’m happy with the transparency and accountability in getting this done. We are considering working with the association to promote the industry,” said Bushiri.

He encouraged Fama to look for new ways to generate income and sustain its operations and to allow it to grow.

Bushiri also reminded the association about the movie collaboration between Malawian and Nigerian actors, an initiative he pledged to sponsor. He said he is still waiting for feedback from Fama on how they plan to move forward with the project.
