Fired nomads CEO not bitter

 Fired Mighty Mukuru Wanderers acting chief executive officer (CEO) Roosevelt Mpinganjira says he is not bitter with the club’s decision not to confirm him after his probation.

The club’s board secretary Chancy Gondwe on Saturday cornfirmed in an interview that they had reached “a mutual agreement to terminate the employment contarct”.

He said: “We respect the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals involved and [we] will not be providing any further information.”

In a separate interview yesterday, Mpinganjira, sounding calm, said: “When you are employed, such things are bound to happen and I have taken it OK.

“I am not bitter and there are no issues. [After all], there is time to come and time to go.

“So, we have agreed to part ways and my last day in office will be 9th March, that’s all I can say.”

The former Football Association of Malawi general secretary was hired as Mighty Wanderers {2021) Company Limited CEO in May last year.

Confirming his recruitment then, Gondwe said Mpinganjira was expected to make the club self-sustainable.

On his part, the CEO then said he was excited with the challenge of heading one of the country’s biggest clubs.

“I cannot wait to hit the ground running. Wanderers are a big and historical club. As a brand, they have enormous potential which we should be tapping into,” he said.

The Nomads are on a restructuring drive, having also appointed a new board, technical panel and supporters committees.
