Flames’ new replica jerseys hit market

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has unveiled Flames’ new Moto replica jerseys whose design is slightly different from the previous ones.

A check of the new design shows that the notable difference is the neckline.

Flames players have complained about the state of their uniforms

The association’s marketing and broadcasting manager Tulipo Mwenelupembe said in an interview yesterday that the replica jerseys hit the market on Sunday.

The replicas are in three types, Moto Authentic which is selling at K75 000, Moto Mid which is at K50 000 and Moto Standard which is pegged at  K35 000.

“This is a limited edition design. It is different due to demands from fans. They requested for this particular design which was only meant for players and technical panel; hence, settling for this limited edition design in the short-term,” Mwenelupembe said.

Commenting on the adjusted prices, he said: “Pricing is based on foreign exchange rates since all the merchandise is imported. We last imported in 2023 and the kwacha has been devalued between then and now.”

Mwenelupembe said a prospective new deal with a technical sponsor is being finalised.

He said: “It’s not just about the replicas, but also getting modern and top-class equipment for all national teams from Under-15 up to the senior national teams.

“We want to provide a wide range of products to appeal to a larger population of Malawians.”

Prior to the arrival of the latest consignment, there were no replica jerseys on the market for over six months.
