Gaba optimistic of Portuguese deal
South Africa-based Flames forward Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango is optimistic that Portuguese top-flight league side Vitoria Setubal will offer him a deal next month.
Gabadinho, who is back at his South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Bivest Wits, yesterday said his confidence stems from the way he performed during his week-long trials.
“Yes, chances are very good and I am just keeping my fingers crossed. Everything went well and they said they would get in touch in December on the way forward,” he said.
The 26-year-old forward told Kickoff.com recently that all that he is looking forward to is game time.
“It’s about getting games there. We need to play games,” he said.
The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour at Wits this season and his contract with the club is due to expire in June 2019.
He has previously been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
Asked by Kickoff.com on the possibilities of joining Chiefs, if he doesn’t join Vitoria, Gabadinho said: “As for me I don’t know about that. For me it’s all about playing games. I don’t mind them.
“What I’m saying is for me it is all about game time—that’s all what matters for me—to play games. Of course, as a player I miss playing games. I am under contract at Wits, so now I cannot talk about leaving or going out.”
Mhango has featured only once for the Clever Boys in 2018/19.
