Hub to ease venue problems
With support from Copyright Fund, Kweza Art Hub in Lilongwe has opened Kweza Quad, an outdoor event space to support artists access venues for performances.
This is in response to a growing demand for venues for performances at low cost.

Speaking during the launch at Kweza Art Hub in Area 3 in Lilongwe on Sunday, its creative director Q Malewezi said the hub was established to address the unique needs of artists and creatives across various disciplines.
He said the facility will benefit those who often struggle to find platforms for their artistic work due to financial challenges.
Said Malewezi: “With this space, there is no event that we cannot do on a regular basis. We want local artists to have weekly events.
“We want to engage artists and creative practitioners because we do not charge artists to use the space. However, we will go into a partnership deal that benefits both sides.”
Kweza Quad, also located in Area 3, is expected to host performances such as music, poetry, theatre and visual arts exhibitions.
“The space is open to all artists who want to utilise it for perfomances and showcase their talents. This is a home where art in its diversity can meet,” he said.
In an interview, Copyright Fund chairperson Robert Kapyepye said the fund is a medium of investment to support artists and their works.
He commended Kweza for successfully implementing the project.
Kapyepye also urged creatives to stay alert for calls for applications from the Copyright Fund so that they don’t miss any opportunity from the fund.
