Fun is expected in abundance at the College of Medicine (CoM) Sports Complex in Blantyre this Saturday, organisers of a day-long Insurance Sports Festival have said.

Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) events officer Chisomo Chibwana told The Nation on Tuesday that all is set for the annual event which brings together workers from the country’s insurance companies and brokers.

Chibwana said standard sporting activities such as football, netball and relay race will be rolled out alongside bizarre contests such as egg throwing and sack race.

She, however, said that the event’s golf contest will take place at Blantyre Sports Club on Friday, while the prize presentation will be conducted at CoM on Saturday evening where urban music crooner Maskal and disc-spinner DJ McCoge will entertain fans.

“Kids will also enjoy themselves at CoM as we have lined up fun-stroking activities such as dancing competitions and jumping castles for them. We are prepared for the event,” said Chibwana.

According to her, the Insurance Sports Festival has been conducted annually since a decade ago and its objective is to help insurance professionals to relax, interact and share ideas concerning their business.

Other sporting activities the insurance workers will be engaged in this Saturday are volleyball, basketball, darts, bawo, chess and, for the first time, swimming.
