IPMM urges HR professionals to foster workforce resilience
Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM) president Frank Sabola has urged human resource (HR) professionals to lead in driving initiatives that boost workforce productivity amid ongoing economic challenges.
Speaking at the IPMM Sponsors Cocktail in Blantyre on Friday, he said HR-led initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring employee productivity and organisational success.

The event, which brought together corporate sponsors, HR professionals and other stakeholders, also served as an opportunity to thank sponsors of the 2024 IPMM annual conference held in Mangochi in November.
Said Sabola: “This event is coming at a time the economy is not in good shape and the workplace is facing various challenges.
“From an HR perspective, we need to train employees on how they navigate these challenges as there are many factors impacting them because most companies are not performing well.”
He also commended the Minister of Labour Vitumbiko Mumba for conducting indust r ial inspec tions , emphasising the importance of enforcing labour laws.
During the inspections, the minister accompanied by his officials, visited a number of companies in Lilongwe and Mzuzu and closed some that were not adhering to good labour practices.
Topmax Malawi Factory in Lilongwe, which was closed during the inspection, was opened on Thursday after the minister said he was satisfied with the improvements made.
Medical Aid Society of Malawi chief human resource and administration officer Linda Mapemba commended IPMM for supporting its members by providing training on how to take care of staff within organisations.
