Musician Joe Gwaladi on Saturday evening went on a fund raising venture when he performed at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre during the Saturday Night Live programme.

During his performance, the musician performed his song, Chipepeso, whose message centres on a persona who wants people to give him money which they would normally give to his family after his passing.

“I also want to have a car. Good people bless your musician Gwaladi,” said the musician as he collected banknotes from patrons on the dance floor.

Realising that he was also live on television, the musician gave out his phone number, saying viewers at home can also contribute to help him realise his dream of owning a vehicle.

In between singing, he repeatedly provided his phone number assuring fans that the number is also his mobile money account which they can use to make their donations.

He went on to perform other songs such as Mchiuno Muli Bwino, Khoswe Chipongwe, Tumbocid and Mtima Bar, among others.

His performance was characterised by deviations and changing lyrics to address various social issues.

At the end of the performance, his pockets were full of banknotes collected from patrons.

Gwaladi, with the backing of Mibawa Band, gave a scintillating performance spiced with his signature head tilting dance move.

The performance was sponsored by WS Bet.
