Kajoke case set for Tuesday
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is on Tuesday expected to start hearing the player ownership case involving FC Nyasa Bullets, striker Hassan Kajoke and Silver Strikers.
The association’s Player Status Committee has notified the player and his manager Ken Mvula, Silver and Bullets of the hearing, according to an email we have seen.
Both Silver and Bullets confirmed having received the notice of the hearing set for Mpira House in Blantyre.
Kajoke dumped Bullets for Silver in January despite having a running contract with the People’s Team until March 31 2023.
He, however, retuned to Bullets and exetended his contract after the TNM Super League champions complained to FAM, accusing Silver of player tapping.
Silver company secretary Peter Masiye said they expect the committee to be objective in the case dating back to January.
He said: “Our expectation is to be given a fair hearing. The committee must be objective and fair.”
Silver through their lawyers Nankhuni & Partners petitioned FAM to declare that Kajoke, who is the first respondent in the petition, signed a valid contract with the club which runs from January 4 2023 to January 3 2026.
The petition also wants FAM to ban Kajoke from any competitive football matches for any team in Malawi until he pays back Silver K3.9 million which he was paid as signing-on fee as well as monthly upkeep allowance paid for the months of January and February 2023.
On his part, Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga said they are looking forward to the hearing and want Silver to explain how they signed the player without checking his status with FAM or his club.
Kajoke has scored two goals in two matches for Bullets this season.
