Suspended over arrest : Kasambara

The governing People’ Party (PP) has suspended its director of legal affairs Ralph Kasambara and deputy director of recruitment Oswald Lutepo over their arrests in the ongoing investigations into the looting of government resources.

PP secretary general Paul Maulidi said the charges levelled against the two are too serious for the party to keep them as members because its image is at stake.

Kasambara is facing charges of attempted murder after he allegedly masterminded the shooting of Treasury budget director Paul Mphwiyo while Lutepo is being accused of theft and money laundering.

“The suspension will be until such a time when their cases are concluded. Should they be given bail, they are free to present their cases to be heard and possible re-consideration Meanwhile, Kasambara and Lutepo are not allowed to wear any party regalia, conduct or attend any party meetings,” said Maulidi.

PP is on record to have said it was planning a disciplinary hearing for the two after being granted bail, but Maulidi said the process was postponed because “the party did not want to appear as interfering with the court proceedings.”

  1. This is a party in a crisis, today they say one thing tomorrow they do another, who is really pulling the strings in this party. The suspension of the said individuals was long overdue and the damage to the PP party has already been done because this party has no mature leadership. The current symbolic leader they have has no crue whatsoever, thanks to her former chief justice husband and crueless advisors she is surrounded with.
