Kamuzu Barracks [KB] summoned their coach Billy Phambala over remarks he made that his team lost 0-2 to Mighty Wanderers in a Standard Bank Knockout Trophy semi-final match because his initial line-up was tampered with.
KB chairperson Lieutenant Colonel Saiford Kalisha yesterday said Phambala was called to clarify his remarks in the media that they lost because some officials changed his line-up.
“We indeed called him on Monday over reports that appeared in the media, but he declined ever uttering such comments and there was no evidence to prove that he indeed uttered such remarks,” said Kalisha.
Kalisha dismissed the reports that Phambala had been suspended and did not attend Wednesdaytraining session “Not to my knowledge. The coach has not been suspended,” he said.
However, Phambala confirmed that he is not drilling the team, “because I have been assigned other duties”.
Phambala led KB to Carlsberg Cup glory and also guided them to finish at the top of the TNM Super League first round in which they did not lose at their Dedza Stadium backyard.
