Kumbali Live Concert gathers momentum
Kumbali Live Concert organisers have intensified preparations for the Standard Bank plc-powered show at Kumbali Castle in Lilongwe on October 19.
The bank has contributed K40 million towards the concert.
Speaking in an interview, Kumbali Live marketing manager Alfred Mhone said progress has been madein the preparations.
“I am excited to share with you that everything is going according to plan. We are selling the tickets online and we have received overwhelming response from patrons who are purchasing. Artists that will perform at the event have confirmed their availability,” he said.
This year’s concert will be headlined by South Africa’s Simmy who will share the stage with celebrated local Jazz maestro Lawi and the soulful George Kalukusha.
According to Mhone, the concert is expected to create a unique cultural experience where people will celebrate music, community as well as great food.
“Our goal is to craft an unforgettable event that blends music, culture and cuisine while promoting Malawian culture,” he said.
On his part, Kalukusha said he is ready to give out his best.
‘Right now, we are busy with rehearsals to ensure that I bring fresh ideas to my performances and introduce new songs,” he said.
The Kumbali Live Concert is seen as a replacement of the Standard Bank Annual Jazz Concert which brought artists such as Earl Klugh, Zahara and Hugh Masekela.
