Lanjesi on fire, extends deal

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-based  attacker Lanjesi Nkhoma has extended his contract at TP Mazembe by  two more years.

The Congolese side announced the new deal barely three days after the former FCB Nyasa Bullets winger scored the lone goal against Lubumbashi Sport and was also named Player of the Match.

The goal took his tally to three from five games. He has also provided two assists.

In an interview yesterday, the 27-year-old player, who joined the Lubumbashi-based outfit alongside his former Bullets teammate Patrick Mwaungulu in 2023, said he was excited to extend his stay at the club.

He said: “I am very happy here and my goals this season are to help the team win the league title and also clinch the golden boot.

“Hopefully, I can also secure a deal with a European team.”

In a statement, Mazembe yesterday said the player will now be tied to the club until May 30 2027 with an option for an additional season.

Part of the statement reads: “He brings his mobility,  ability to attack the depth and his work off the ball.

“This extension reflects the club’s desire to stabilise its attacking sector and to continue the development of a player fully committed to the club’s sporting project.

“TP M wishes Lanjesi Nkhoma every success  in the black and white jersey.”

Last week, the DRC club  announced that Mwaungulu extended his contract by two years.

Mwaungulu  has also scored three goals and provided the same number of assists.

Mazembe top the DRC flagship league with 30 points from 13 matches. They are tied on points with second-placed  St Eloi Lupopo who have an inferior goal difference and with a game in hand.
