Mafco_marchingThe chase for the TNM Super League title continues to shred the nerves of the fans and yesterday Mafco FC bounced back to the driving seat.

Calisto Kalinda’s first-half strike against Azam Tigers at Chitowe ground earned Mafco valuable three points as they shot back to the summit of the table with 45 points, a point ahead of defending champions Silver Strikers.

The Bankers went top on Saturday after beating Big Bullets 1-0 at Silver Stadium.

On Sunday, it was Kalinda’s 12th goal of the season in his quest for the Golden Boot Award, but it was Epac’s marksman Ishmail Thindwa who boosted his chances to win the award when he scored twice in his side’s 4-1 demolition of Mzuzu United at Mzuzu Stadium.

Mafco have two games before they wrap up the season, but their key midfielder Zasher Nong’oneza remains optimistic about their chances although the Bankers have a game in hand.

Civo United also kept their survival hopes on the boil with a 3-0 win over Blantyre United yesterday at Civo Stadium.
