Man arrested for burglary and theft

 Police in Salima on Saturday arrested Yusuf Amidu, 22, for breaking into a house and stealing a Samsung plasma television set and a home theatre both valued at K550 000.

According to Salima Police Station spokesperson Rabecca Ndiwate, the incident happened on the night of November 22 2023 in Msangu location in the district.

She said on this particular night, the occupants of the house went to bed having properly closed doors and windows.

“Upon waking up in the morning, the property owner discovered that the window on the sitting room was open. He noted that the TV set and a home theatre were missing,” said Ndiwate.

The matter was reported to Police who immediately went on the ground and netted the suspect.

The suspect was found keeping the stolen items in one of the rest houses at Kamuzu Road Market.

He is said to have admitted committing the offence.

Meanwhile, the items have been identified by the owner.

Amidu comes from Chaima Village, Traditional Authority Pemba in Salima District, will appear in court soon to answer charges of burglary and theft
