The red carpet was filled with personalities such as Tonderai Banda of Entertainers Promotions, Amaryllis Hotel general manager Ramy Waheed and film producer Charles Shemu Joyah.

The weather, with its clear clouds, complemented the stylish outfits of the guests, adding to the overall ambiance of the event. As they arrived, patrons were treated to a captivating performance by Tsa Leo which set the tone for the rest of the evening.

In his keynote address, Maso Awards chief executive officer Augustine Mukisi highlighted the significance of corporate investment in the arts, saying it is a vital sector that contributes to the country’s economy and cultural heritage.

“Arts is not just a hobby or a passion project, but a vital sector that contributes significantly to our economy and cultural heritage. We urge the corporate world to recognise the value of investing in the arts industry, not just as a social responsibility, but as a sound business strategy,” he said.

The awards ceremony saw a number of talented artists being recognised for their outstanding work.

Onesimus took home two awards, including Best Song of the Year for Controller and Best Male Artist of the Year. Other winners included Theresa Phondo, who was named Best Female Artist of the Year and Jackie Kantambe Ryan who received the Fans Choice Award.

The event also featured performances by a number of notable artists, including Fadah Moti, Jetu and Chikondi Wiseman who wowed the audience with their energetic and captivating performances.

Onesimus’s manager, Tonderai, accepted the awards on behalf of the artist.

“We are humbled by the recognition and did not expect Onesimus to win so many awards, including six international accolades. This is a testament to his hard work and dedication,” he said.

One of the attendees, Rita Phiri commended organisers for a great event.

“I am satisfied with how the awards went and every winner deserved them. The voting process was fair and despite the late start, the event was well-organised and the performances were top-notch,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mukisi announced that the event will happen again next year at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
