Maseko Ngoni paramount leader Inkosi Ya Makhosi Gomani V has just discovered a new talent in him—painting. On Saturday, he and his wife, Inkosikazi Rishaladza Gomani participated in the painting exercise in Blantyre organised by Kaliso Art Gallery.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Gomani thanked organisers of the painting event for starters.

He said: “A new talent of mine has come to light—painting. The Sip and Paint exercise with Her Royal Highness Khanyisa Rishaladza Gomani V went so well.”

The traditional leader then shared images of his painting, a beautiful sunset with a silhouette of himself and Inkosikazi. His wife painted a beautiful portrait of a woman with a head gear in Malawian flag colours.

On her part, lead organiser of the event Evelyn Chisambiro said she was glad to have hosted the Maseko Ngoni traditional leader, his wife and several other painting amateurs who  discovered their talent.

“It was a beautiful afternoon and I am so grateful and thankful for the wonderful support we received in Blantyre,” she said.

Chisambiro said she started the Sip and Paint programme last year at her Kaliso Art Gallery in Lilongwe to complement the other services she provides.

“It is our way of promoting art and creativity suitable for everyone. Our audience consists of people who have no painting experience, but it’s always amazing to see the end result. It goes to prove that we all have a creative side,” she said.

Chisambiro said when patrons come to participate, they are given a blank canvass with paints and brushes so that they can get creative on their own.

“But we provide assistance and direction to those who need it. But once people get a hang of it, they activate their creative side and mostly require little to no assistance,” she added.
