Memorial service, tombstone unveiling for Grace Chinga
Memorial service and tombstone unveiling for the late gospel songbird Grace Chinga takes place this coming Saturday November 11 at HHI Cemetery.
According to Davie Chinga, brother to the decesead, the ceremony will start at 9am.
“We have spent K2.5 million to construct the tombstone. We decided to do this as family without fundraising or asking for outside help because we also wanted to show our commitment and love for our departed sister,” he said.
Davie said the family did not involve Malawians because they did enough during late Chinga’s funeral.
“Right now, we just want all those who loved our sister and her music to come and attend the memorial as well as tombstone unveiling. She deserves this honour,” he said.
Davie said the ceremony will be run by Full Gospel Church of God and musicians.
Late Grace Chinga was born on June 28 1978 and died on March 16 2016.
The Chinga family was earlier this year in the media for squabbles over sales of her music, but Davie says the matter was amicably resolved.n
