Nomads want players out of Flames camp

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have demanded the immediate release of their seven players who are with the Flames as a condition to fulfil their TNM Super League match against Salima Sugar Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium this Sunday.

The demand is contained in a letter which the Nomads have written to Super League of Malawi (Sulom).

The seven players are in camp with the Flames in preparation for Saturday’s Africa Nations Championship match against Mozambique’s Mambas at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Somba Banda: It is being looked into

Part of the letter addressed to Sulom president Tiya Somba Banda reads in part: “We write with reference to the above fixture that you are expecting our team to fulfil this coming Sunday, 28th August, 2022.

“We would like to advise as follows: (a) Our team has seven players with the national team: – Chiukepo Msowoya, Stanley Sanudi, Miracle Gabeya, Yamikani Chester, Isaac Kaliati, Misheck Botomani and Muhammad Sulumba.

(b) Our bus has been booked by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) for use by the Mozambican team.

“We believe that it will be difficult for us to fulfil the fixture unless you would like us to withdraw our players from the national team.”

Wanderers board secretary Humphrey Mvula confirmed taking up the matter with Sulom.

Somba Banda also confirmed the issue, saying: “The matter is being looked into by the fixtures committee.”

Rules and regulations of the league stipulate that a team can only be exempted from a fixture after contributing more than three players.
