Moyale Barracks win NR Fifa/FAM League
Moyale Barracks FC on Sunday beat CY 1-0 in a balanced final to win the Northern Region Fifa/FAM Under-20 women football cup played at Katoto Secondary School ground in Mzuzu.
It was a late second-half strike from 16-year-old Naomi Mwale that won them the honours.
In a solo effort in the 72nd minute, Mwale took the ball from CY defenders and made a good run to her left before releasing a thunderbolt that went into the top corner of the goal, beating goalkeeper Ephrina Mvula.
Despite losing the match, CY were a marvel to watch through Maureen Phiri, who was thrice stopped by Moyale goalie, Linda Mwanza.
Guest of honour during prize presentation National Women Football Committee (NRWFC) member Anne Mseteka thanked Fifa and FAM for the sponsorship, saying it added value to the sport in the region.
