Talent that started way back has today borne unexpected results for 13-year-old Joyce Ntepa and 12-year-old Vanessa Lita, both students of Jacaranda School who left the country for Scotland to perform at an annual event organised by Mary’s Meals founder Magnus McFarlane Barrow.

The students will perform in Scotland on November 10 and in Vienna in Austria two days later. At both venues, thechildren will perform alongside the Royal Orchestra.

The girls say they have prepared well for both events as they have been practising hard. They will perform three songs, A Cup of Porridge, Lean On Me and Education.

Jacaranda Schools founder Marie Da Silva says the trip also has an educational element as the students will travel to a number of educational and historical places in Scotland and Austria.

“In Austria, the children will perform at the venue where the Von Trap family singers performed in the movie Sound of Music. We are also hoping that the trip will also improve the girls’ English skills,” she said.

Da Silva added that Jacaranda Schools will exhibit some art paintings created by the students.

Grace Ntepa and Modesta Lita, parents to the students, expressed gratitude at having the pair make this rare trip.

Ntepa, who has been sick for the past month, says it is God who has seen her through her sickness and let her survive to see her daughter leave for Scotland.

The girls will also have the chance to visit the Scotland Parliament, the Tower of London, Glasgow, the City of Blantyre and the birth place of Mary’s Meals.
