Mwawi can’t wait to get hitched
Malawi Queens star shooter Mwawi Kumwenda says she cannot wait to wed her long-time fiance Wanangwa Mbwana.
The two lovers exchange vows at St. Columbus CCAP Church in Blantyre this morning while the reception is scheduled for Sunbird Mount Soche this evening.
In an interview on Friday, the lanky New Zealand-based shooter said: “I just cannot wait. I have been looking forward to this day for sometime.”
On whether marriage could lead to her easing down a gear on netball, Kumwenda who turns 33 on Tuesday, said: “Netball is my career so marriage is not a signal of the end. There is more for me to come in this sport, just like my fiance is a professional chartered accountant.
“We both have our careers and this is the time for us to come together as husband and wife.”
The revered netballer said she is also excited that her Australian family, friends and former teammates are here for the wedding. “They are over 30 and I feel really excited. The feeling is amazing,” said the 2014 Netball World Cup Player of the Tournament.
