Nyirenda: What we want is
improvement of people’s lives

Speaking during the meeting,  M’mbelwa DEC representative Elias Nyirenda  said the new projects are in line with the council’s objectives of promoting people’s rights  and participation in development.

He said the projects will ensure good service delivery.

Nyirenda said in the new strategy, ActionAid wants to empower women economically, enable people to demand quality services and various developments.

“We have seen that there are several interventions they are going to implement.

“As a council, what we want to see is lives of people in Mzimba improving,” he said.

Mzimba District ActionAid coordinator Wongani Mugaba said the organisation shared the strategy with the DEC so that it can be held accountable in the implementation of its action plan.

He said the organisation is affirming its commitment to promoting social justice, economic empowerment and also fight several abuses people, especially women face in society.

“We want to promote women economic justice. We want women to be properly treated in their jobs and various economic activities,” said Mugaba. He said the new plan will also promote food security through promotion of  good agricultural practices.
