Good Neighbours International has pledged to continue supporting education in primary and secondary schools in Sub-Traditional Authority Chambwe in Kasungu District.

Speaking during a child rights awareness campaign on Wednesday at Malaya Primary School, the organisation’s country director Gyo Joo said as an organisation whose pillar is to raise the well-being of children, they will continue to build school blocks, teachers’ houses and change rooms.

He said: “We are geared to continue supporting education in Kasungu until we see that children’s rights in schools and homes are respected.

“We want every child, especially girls, to remain in school to achieve their goals.”

Kasungu district director of education, youth and sports Dorothy Masudi commended the NGO for its efforts in promoting education in the district.

She said: “I commend the non-governmental organisation’s [NGO] support towards improving access to quality education in the country.

“Again, I thank the NGO for conducting child rights awareness campaigns as they help to sensitise parents and guardians about the im[ortance of education.”

Masudi asked other NGOs to support the education sector in the district, saying there are shortages of learning materials and classroom blocks in many primary schools in the district.

The NGO conducted the child rights awareness campaigns under the theme ‘Education for All’.
