NGOs to source own funding—EC

Organisations accredited to conduct civic and voter education for 2014 tripartite elections will have to source their own funding, Electoral Commission (EC) publicist Sangwani Mwafulirwa said on Tuesday.

The electoral body last week released a list of over 200 organisations accredited to conduct civic education for the 2014 local, parliamentary and presidential elections.

Mwafulirwa said the organisations will have to seek finances elsewhere when they get accreditation certificates.

“They will have to seek funding from their bilateral partners as we will not provide finances to conduct the civic education,” he said.

According to Mwafulirwa, the organisations are expected to be impartial and abide by the EC code of conduct.
