Nice Trust mobilises people to vote in September polls
National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust has intensified awareness campaign in Karonga to encourage voters to cast their ballots on September 16 2025.
Speaking on Saturday during a voter civic awareness campaign in Traditional Authority Kyungu, Nice Karonga district programmes officer Nathan Sakala said they wanted to encourage voters to turn out in large numbers to vote for candidates of their choice.

He said: “We do not want voter apathy on September 16. That is why we have lined up many activities such as football bonanzas, meetings with community members and traditional leaders to encourage prospective voters to exercise their constitutional rights to vote.
“So, expect traditional leaders to also encourage their subjects to vote in September. We want
to urge people to attend political campaign meetings to know what the candidates have in their manifestos.”
On his part, group village head Mwahimba Mwakifwamba urged people in his area to maintain peace during the campaign period.
He said: “I am pleased that Nice Trust engaged community leaders on a number of issues including dispelling fears which voters have on the infamous Smartmatic’s election management devices.
“Again, Nice Trust advised that people should elect leaders based on their manifestos tailored to bring social amenities such as infrastructure development in the area.”
Karonga Police Station crime prevention officer Wasauka Nyirenda assured the community of his office’s readiness to provide security during campaign.
Nice Trust conducted the event under Boma Lathu Programme with support from the European Union
