Nico Group gives Charity Golf K60 mil

The Nico Group company has donated K60 million to the Presidential Initiative on Charity Golf for Cyclonne Freddy survivors as well as university needy students

The initiative raises funds through a golf tournament after which it channels the raised funds towards paying of school fees for the less privileged university students’ school fees.

Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony,  Nico Group head of marketing, Lauren Mlenga, said that the initiative’s interest in helping the less privileged, is in line with the group’s values.

Said Mlenga, “We are coming contributing K60 million as a platinum sponsor led by NBS Bank. Together in swing to serve we can create a positive impact.”

Chairperson of the fundraising committee for the initiative, Boyd Luwe, upon receiving the donation said that this adds onto what has already been raised this far. 

Said Luwe, “We had planned to raise K400 million today and we have already managed to raise over K300 million.”

He further said that Nico Group was also a platinum sponsor during the Presidential Charity Golf Fundraising Initiative inaugural event last year.

He further said that the state president, Lazarus Chakwera has said that this is going to be an annual event where funds shall be raised and be channelled towards charitable activities.

This year’s golf tournament is going to take place on 21st October.
