A career-threatening injury has once again floored Kamuzu Barracks (KB) playmaker Harvey Nkacha.

Nkacha, who has several Flames call-ups, but is yet to crack the final playing nod, bruised his problematic right ankle during training on Monday after being hit by a ball.

The former Zomba United skipper is now in a plaster of Paris (PoP) which is likely to further delay his appearance this season in the TNM Super League and Carlsberg Cup games.

Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) doctor D. Munthali’s medical report sums up Nkacha’s injury: “Right ankle tendon, no evidence of fracture, but soft tissue injury. No football action for three weeks.”

Nkacha, whose goals and creative play steered KB to the 2013 Carlsberg Cup glory, enjoyed an injury-free outing last season, only for his leg to snap up again when participating in Malawi Defence Force Bonanza last month.

“I enjoyed an injury-free season probably because I was fresh from Malawi Armed Forces College training which allowed my problematic ankle to fully heal. That has always been a problem for me and sometimes opponents tackle me there deliberately,” he explained.

  1. Peter Kanjere! Please! I thought your trip to that international sports journalists meeting would have aided you to cement some holes in Malawi’s sports reporting by at least having a glimpse of how others do it out there! But check your own first paragraph and then read the orthopedist’s prognosis on your own fourth paragraph! Paradoxical! n…it?
