Nomads march against Mvula 

Some concerned Mighty Wanderers supporters yesterday braved the rains to march to the house of their board of directors secretary Humphrey Mvula at BCA Hill in Blantyre to force him to resign from the club.

In a petition addressed to the board members, the supporters accused Mvula of mismanagement of the club.

The letter reads in part: “We, bona fide concerned Mighty Wanderers Football Club supporters are calling for an immediate removal of Mr. Humphrey Mvula for gross mismanagement of the club’s affairs, including deliberate lack of internal corporate governance that has brought the name of our mighty club into unnecessary disrepute and administration mess which are not in line with club licensing.”

Wanderers main supporters’ committee chairperson Dines Chitsulo yesterday said Mvula “must leave before he completely destroys our beloved club”.

But Mvula yesterday said he will not bow down to pressure from the supporters.

He said  their resignation calls are coming because of his stand against supporters manning the gates during matches.

He said: “I will only step down at the expiry of my tenure at the end of this year.”

Mvula. who was not at home, also rebuked the supporters for marching to his private property.

On supporters calls for a board of directors meeting, Mvula referred the matter to the club’s presidential committee chairperson Clement Stambuli, who yesterday said chairpersons of the club’s various committees were expected to hold a meeting to discuss issues.

 “The meeting is about the affairs of the club including the holding of the board meeting.

“However, it must be noted that we are doing this because we are supposed to and not due to pressure from the supporters or anybody,” said Stambuli. n
