Nomads withdraw league pull-out threat

Mighty Wanderers at the weekend swallowed their pride and withdrew their threat to pull out of the current TNM Super League season.

The Nomads, through their outspoken general secretary David Kanyenda, last week threatened to pull out if Sulom did not revise last weekend’s fixtures, which had them on bye.

However, Sulom stood its ground and maintained the fixtures, insisting that the Nomads had been put on bye for logistical reasons.

“Withdrawing is an option of last resort which should be exercised sparingly as it is an extreme course of action.

“We strongly believe that we had a solid argument because it is not logical to allocate a fixture to a team that has played more games, in this case Mafco and then put us on bye when we had played a fewer games,” said Kanyenda.

He said the way Sulom is handling fixtures creates room for speculation.
