Nthemba CCAP Church of the Blantyre Synod has partnered with Joy to the World Ministries Inc in a relationship that will enable missionaries to visit different countries.

To kick-start the process, the two religious institutions organised a three-day Chosen Generation Missions Conference themed ‘Missions in light of the Cross’, which has been taking place at Nthemba CCAP since Friday, July 5.

The congregation’s moderator Reverend Paul Mawaya said on Monday, the conference would attract over 300 delegates; with others travelling from as far as England, South Africa, Zambia and Uganda.

Reverend Mawaya disclosed that the objective of the conference is to create a forum for missions for passionate people who believe that they are a chosen generation to fulfill the ‘Great Commission in other countries in Africa first and the world at large’.

The three-day sessions, however, left out people with low education levels as Reverend Mawaya indicated that all the activities would be in English and that there will be no one to interpret.

“In our next conferences, interpretation will be considered,” said Mawaya.

The moderator  said interpretation would dilute the gist of the sermons. He also indicated that English was adopted to save time, observing that interpretation is time-consuming.

He also indicated that participants are asked to contribute not more than K5 000.

“Reverend George Macaskill, a retired minister of Associated Presbyterian Church in Scotland with experience in missions; Dr. David Reimer, a senior lecturer in Biblical Studies at University of Edinburgh; reverend Fletcher Matandika, a Malawian missionary serving as resident minister of Associated Presbyterian Church in British Columbia and Canada as well as Founder  and President of Joy to the World Ministries International are among some delegates to minister during the conference,” he said.
