Striker Vincent Nyangulu yesterday extended his contract with Mighty Wanderers by two more years barely a day before the expirely of his initial deal.

Nyangulu and Wanderers assistant coach Joseph Kamwendo confirmed the development yesterday, putting to rest rumours that he was joining rivals Nyasa Big Bullets FC.

The prolific forward joined the Nomads on a three-year contract from the defunct Masters Security FC in 2019.

Nyangulu said: “I have signed a new contract not due to how much I have been offered but because I love the club. I am happy to continue serving the team in the next two years.”

Kamwendo said it was a relief that the 2021 FDH Bank Cup golden-boot winner has extended his stay at the Lali Lubani Road outfit.

He said: “To say the truth, Nyangulu is our main man and we could not afford to lose him. I thank Wanderers board of directors for deciding to keep him at the club.”

Before the 2022 season kicked off a few weeks ago, Nyangulu sneaked out to Mozambique to seek greener pastures at top-flight league side Vilankhulo FC, but the move flopped.

Last season, he was the team’s top scorer in all competitions after he notched 14 goals.

Nyangulu will compete for a place in first XI against new-signings Chiukepo Msowoya and Muhammad Sulumba and Misheck Botomani.
