Nyasulu replaces Meke as TN Stars head coach

Former Flames goalkeeper Phillip Nyasulu has replaced Meke Mwase as head coach of Kasungu-based TNM Super League outfit TN Stars.

Stars director of communications and operations Wisdom Chimgwede confirmed the news yesterday, saying the elevation of Nyasulu from assistant coach follows the recent appointment of Mwase as Flames head coach.

TN Stars will be under new coaching panel

“Nyasulu is part of the technical team we have been with since last season. For us, they have done several things beyond our expectations,” he said.

In an interview, Nyasulu welcomed the development, saying: “I am happy with the appointment and, to me, this is a continuation of what I have been doing at the club whenever Mwase was with the national team”.

In a press release yesterday, Chimgwede said Nyasulu’s promotion is part of the appointments the side  made on July 1.

Nyasulu will be assisted by technical adviser Mike Banda while Monke Chirwa is the side’s reserve team coach.

At management level, Jones Banda is club administrator, Khumbo Chipeta operations officer while Chifundo Nyirenda, is logistics and stakeholder liaison officer.

“As part of the process towards commercialisation, TN Stars directorate recently started a restructuring process. Among others, the process brought changes to the organogram leading to redundancy of the Exco [executive committee],” reads the statement.

Before the latest changes, Mwase was doubling as Stars coach and Flames’ part-time mentor.
