Peter Banda shines in CAF confed Cup match

 Flames midfielder Peter Banda scored and provided an assist as Simba SC beat Ivory Coast’s Asec Mimosa 3-1 in the CAF Confederation Cup in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

According to www.news.abidjan.net, the hosts opened the scoring in the 12th

minute through Senegalese  Pape Ousmane Sakho from Banda’s assist.\

The visitors restored parity in the 60th minute through Stéphane Ki Aziz before sinking in the last quarter of an hour in which they

 conceded two goals scored by Shomari Kapombe and Banda.

Kipombe scored from the spot in the 79th minute before Banda got on the score-sheet two minutes later.

Simba face Nigerian club USGN in their next game on Sunday while Asec Mimosa face CR Berkane of Morocco.

In an interview, Flames coach Meck Mwase applauded the youngster for scoring.

“This is good for his blossoming career because it gives players confidence. He is young and has a bright future ahead of him,” he said.

This was his second goal for the club after scoring in their 2-1 win over Geita Gold in a league game last December.

The former Griffin Young Stars forward joined Simba in August last year on a three-year deal after scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions at Moldovan top-flight league side Sheriff Tiraspol
