Piksy to release Mutu
Urban music artist Piksy is set to drop his fourth studio album titled Mutu by the end of June.
The Uncle Short One hit-maker made the announcement during a press briefing at Five79 Café in Sunnyside, Blantyre on Wednesday morning. He said production of the album started two years ago.
Piksy said the album will maintain his artistic DNA in terms of focus of his compositions as reflected in his previous three albums.
“People that have been following my music throughout the years will attest to the fact that I always focus on the positive side of life. That has not changed in the new album. I am focusing on messages that can impact people’s lives positively,” he said.
The album was recorded at Mike Studios in Blantyre and several producers such as Jay Mas, BFB, Famous, Don Foxxy and Toni City are behind its production. The artist said he has featured a number of artists in the 14-track album.
Reflecting on his music journey, Piksy said despite the challenges, he is pleased with the progress that he has made both as an artist and a person.
He said: “I take this talent as a gift and I believe God is still taking me to places. From the time I started, I have grown in so many ways and I believe people are enjoying what I am giving them.”
Speaking separately, his manager Wisdom Phanga said their biggest attribute has been the ability to learn from their past experiences and make improvements.
“The music landscape has changed a lot with so many players in the game. It is not easy to sustain your relevance. But we have always thrived on learning from our past to make the necessary adjustments. That is what we will continue doing,” he said.
Phanga said despite the encouraging sales made from the previous album, they are planning to tap into the digital space to maximise their marketing potential.
In a related development, the artist has also announced the start of a nationalwide tour on March 28. The first phase will see Piksy perform in Ntcheu, Dedza and Salima districts.
The manager said the tour will allow people to have a feel of some of his songs from his previous album Mtunda.
“We are reaching out to people whom we have not been able to using other channels. People know Piksy, but a number of them have not seen him perform live. This is their chance to do so,” said Phanga.
Piksy came on the scene as one part of the duo Atumwi, alongside Nicholas Mbonela. He later went solo and he has since released three albums Maso, Mthunzi and Mtunda
