Police arrest three for car theft

Police in Mangochi have arrested three people in connection with a vehicle which was stolen in Blantyre on September 9 this year, but recovered at Ahad Superette in the district.

Mangochi Police spokesperson Rodrick Maida identified the three suspects as Humphrey Banda, 28, Abdul Azizi, 30, and Brian Kalimu, 32.

He said the motor vehicle registration MC 9 was stolen at gunpoint on September 9 in Blantyre.

“On 10th September, 2013, the vehicle was found in Mangochi at about 7.30pm with five suspected criminals on board and the police managed to arrest three,” Maida said.

He alleged that the suspects wanted to attack Ahad Superette at the time of arrest.

Meanwhile, the police are looking for the remaining two suspects.

The three will appear in court to answer charges of being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen.
